PORNWARE
Apps to help you get the most of your porn collection
A desktop app that lets you create infinite, highly customizable slideshows from your collection. Control the speed, sources, add captions, strobing, and more.
It used to work with social media sites but now it works best with files that are saved locally.
FlipFlip is created by an independent developer. Your computer may show warnings that it's unknown software. It's always good to exercise caution when installing new programs. If you're on a Mac, here's how to open the app.
UniTube is an app that lets you download video and audio files from most websites. It also has a built in file converter. While I do not endorse downloading paid media to share with others, I do think it's good to archive your favorites in case they ever disappear from the internet. The internet is forever but also ephemeral. Sometimes stuff disappears overnight and is gone.
The app itself is free for downloading up to 3 things at a time. This is probably sufficient for most of us, but you can pay for unlimited concurrent downloads and support the developer.
FixUpX allows you to send links with previews to people who don't have a Twitter/X account. It also works on BlueSky.
No app is required, all you have to do is change the first part of the link you send:
For x.com: fixupx.com
For twitter.com: fxtwitter.com
For bsky.app: fxbsky.app
This is especially useful for Telegram, which will add a button so you can download the media.
Media Archives
Across the non-Pornternet, paywalls prevent access to crucial information and sites disappear without warning, cutting off access to media.
Websites like archive.org work to prevent this, creating an online library and repository for information. News article locked behind a paywall? Check if they have a copy of it. The interface takes a second to learn, but once you get the hang of it it's a valuable tool (you'll find links to it across this site even.)
Site Downloaders
If you're looking to save media from a specific site, googling "*site name* downloader" will often get the job done. If it requires signing up or an account, skip it and look for another one. I recommend these especially for Soundcloud, as they tend to delete bate tunes with zero warning.
Creating your own archive of media (cough Porn) is important. Having a copy that you own and have full control of is the only way to be sure that it won't disappear forever. Think about streaming sites taking down original content: if they never released physical copies of it, it's just gone forever.
There are also organizations that want to ban Porn from the internet entirely, or require that access is tied to your government ID. I think it's important to recognize these as attacks on not just Porn, but free speech. When the legal definition of Porn is "well I know it when I see it", Porn could be anything people disagree with: podcasts of gay men discussing sexual health, resources for trans people to learn about and find healthcare.
